Working from Dave's notes and images, we let the space guide us. Light stone grounds the palette while tongue and groove wraps the fireplace in warmth. A stone hearth bridges indoors and out, and drawing the wood down from the ceilings onto the walls creates a sense of openness that feels both expansive and intimate. These materials don't compete, they belong together. Organic, inviting, and modern without ever feeling heavy.
This is our interpretation, and interpretations have limits. The work we love most begins with you, understanding how you live, what you never want to live with again, and how a space needs to hold it all. This sketch captures the essence of the fireplace concept, showing how the stacked limestone face, tongue and groove surround, and reclaimed wood beam come together into a unified composition. The linear gas fire anchors the hearth, while the concrete slab provides a grounding base that bridges the interior with the outdoors.
Dimension marks indicate the proportional relationship between the fireplace face, flanking niches, and the ceiling height above, ensuring the design reads with the right scale within the room.
